A flat water spot with access to Sydney Harbour, so some potential for rolling swell if the conditions are right. You can get windsurfing lessons at Balmoral Sailing Club, and do the RYA windsurfing instructor courses as Flying Fish do some of their training here.
Conditions
Flat water, getting choppy with maybe some swell as you get further out into Sydney Harbour. Only really good in an NE seabreeze as it's well protected from westerly or southerly winds by the headland and the big hill behind the beach.
Hazards
It can be tricky getting out here through the moorings from the Balmoral Sailing Club end of the beach, though that's where the good parking and rigging areas are - there is plenty of grass to rig up on in front of the sailing club. If it's windy, coming back through the moorings on a broad reach at top speed can also be pretty hairy!
Ferrys have right of way on the harbour, so don't get in their way.
