Carbon Canyon Dam is located above Yorba Linda/Placentia. This is where I wind skateboard during Santa Ana winds. Technically, skateboards are not allowed inside Canyon. Do not sail on the south-facing section of the dam!!! The folks in the huge houses on the hill will call the cops!!! Sail on the west-facing section (the section without US GOVERNMENT NO TRESSPASSING signs). I was up there today (10/26/06) and talked to John from Army Corp of Engineers (http://www.usace.army.mil) and after talking to his boss, they decided that I really shouldn't be sailing up there but they can't stop me. However, the Carbon Canyon Park Ranger could give me a citation if he/she wanted to. I have been sailing there 3 times in the past week without having anything happen so it looks like it's no big deal.
Make sure you keep walkers and bikers upwind of you. Stop and let people with horses pass by you before resuming.
