Coronation Beach - the spot to go when you come to Geraldton. Protected inshore, big easy waves offshore. A port tack jumping location, but late in the day (when the sharks come out) it swings enough offshore to be a decent down the line wave ride as well. You wont be sorry you can here. Best in the Oz summer months.
Kitesurfers go about 80 metres downwind, and generally do the right thing and keep out of everyones way. You can camp here, but bring your own water/food/dunny paper. Toilets and BYO-water showers provided. Also a few gazebos and now even a free electric(?) BBQ. More upgrades are planned in the facilities over 2007.
Gear can be hired from the two windsurfing stores in Geraldton - 25 km away: Sailwest or G-Spot.
Hazards: watch out for the cray fishing boats parked at the beach, and cray pot lines which can be strung out across the sailing line. You _will_ catapult off these with a straight fin, but may get away with it if on a true wave fin. Be careful - people have injured themselves and broken gear on cray lines.
Theres a plan for a deep water port at Oakajee, just upwind of here. If this plan goes ahead. Coro will be dead; no waves and no wind. No port for Oakajee.
