Dahab, a secluded beach resort in Egypt, is one of the world's best flat-water windsurfing spots. Picture spending your afternoons just ripping one screaming reach after another across gin-clear bathwater and watching the coral reef and thousands of colorful fish flashing beneath you. If you tire of this (right!), you can sail farther out beyond the sand spit to play in the gentle swells that roll in from the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba. And, oh yeah, dig this, that's Saudi Arabia you can see off in the distance. Like this girl I know said after I got back to England -- "Couldn't you think of something a little more exotic?" There are several gear rental spots on the beach, all good. The Swiss Inn is probably the best deal for lodging. It has great food and plentiful beers. Apres sail is all about piling into the back of a pickup/taxi and making the evening run into Masbat, the neighboring hippie town for beers and good times. Or at least, that's how it was last time I went. Not sure about the vibe since the Iraq mess got going. You might have to be a little more careful nowadays.
