Windsurfing near Eagle Creek Reservoir

This is the place that desperate Team Indy riders come to windsurf when they can't get out of town.

Parking is available at the Eagle Creek Park boat launch, just north of Rick's Cafe on Dandy Trail. There is a fee of a few dollars, and season parking passes are also available. The best place to park is at the south end of the parking lot, next to the grassy rigging area.

The best wind direction is due north, which doesn't happen often. Other wind directions are sailable, but relatively gusty. East winds are a little tricky, as they're due offshore from the launch site. And on a WNW wind, you will be greeted with psycho sailing conditions that will make you wish you hadn't bothered to rig at all!

On Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings, the sailing club holds sailboat races, so be prepared for extra traffic on the water. But the good news is there aren't any power boats over 10hp on the lake!

Sailing here is year round, if you have a drysuit, except for some winter months when the lake freezes over.
