The right hand side of the mouth of the River Tees can offer some tremendous waves in the right conditions. The best will be any northerly swell with the wind blowing N - NE and the tide must be over half tide. The swell racks up on a series of shingle banks which run froom the gare wall in a long sweep back towards Redcar Cotham beach. You should really go and see this at low tide to see the extent of the shingle banks. This is not for the beginner and you can damage yourself and your gear on the sharp rocks and shingle. Having said that even in a moderate swell you will find this breaking much larger here and the faces can be steep and fast for big jumps.
Enjoy
