Windsurfing near Glencairn

Nearby Windguru Forecasts

Description

This is moderate+ to advanced wave spot. The dominant wind is SE and produces cross on shore conditions. The swell can build up across False Bay offering an often bigger than expected wave. This beach, being in False Bay, is usually warmer than on the Atlantic side. Be aware that there is a greater shark presence in False Bay (then again... no windsurfer has reported being bitten).

This spot offers a good chance to practise sailing on a port tack, as aposed to most of the other Wave spots around the Cape.

The best places to rig are either on the beach in the south corner or next to the railway line below the main road on the south side of the beach. Either way you can easily carry your gear under the railway bridge to the beach.
