This site works best on a westerly wind. The best times to sail here are in the spring and fall when frontal systems move through the area more frequently. In the spring this spot is great when there is large differntial between the air and water temperature and Lake Erie is doming. A very safe spot as you are not too far from land anywhere. Booties are good idea as the launch is mostly slimy rock and gravel. This spot is great in the winter prior to freeze up.
