A word for Hickling Windsurfing Club, Norfolk. Something like 150 members, although many of these memberships are for families, so actual sailing members somewhat more. Hence a popular location, with ~500 acres of shallow water making it an ideal beginner location. Close to the coast, so decent wind conditions in all but W to NW.
A day launch ticket is a fiver, which I guess isn't too bad when you can redeem it against full membership if you choose to take it out.
Strictly speaking a Broads Authority licence is required for all sailors, but they seem to turn a blind eye to day visitors. If you wish to be legit, however, a 1 to 7 day toll is £7.70, 8 to 14 days £10.00. (The annual toll is £22). Not cheap, but not the end of the world either.
