Sailing
Ebenezer Point has nice grass rigging areas and facilities. People enjoying the beach park in a different area so you don't have to worry about people walking on your equipment. This is the main site for sailing in the Triangle and on windy days you can find 20+ sailors to sail with. The best wind directions for Ebenezer are NE, N, NW, W, SW, and S, but about any wind direction can be sailed here. If it blows hard enough, Jordan can build some nice swells for jumping! If the wind is from the W or E it can be very gusty (like lake sailing wasn't gusty anyway!). For east winds, you want to go to Vista Point on Lake Jordan. During the summer, be aware of other watercraft around you.
In the summers, you won't find many sailors here. The boat traffic gets quite bad and the winds are very light. People usually put the boards away or make the trek to the coast. You will find people sailing year-round at Jordan. The Triangle Boardsailing Club maintains a Forum (http://tbc.bme.duke.edu/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl) with threads about who's sailing where, whenever the winds start looking promising. All are welcome to join in the fun.
Directions
From Raleigh, take Hwy. 64 West towards Pittsboro. Follow signs to Jordan Lake. When you get to the Wilsonville area (stop light with gas stations on your left and right) take a left on Ebenezer Church Rd. Drive just over two miles until you come to the Ebeneezer Pt. Park entrance (on your right). Take the road to the last parking lot and you will be at the point where everyone sails from. There is a park entrance fee of $5 daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day and on weekends in May and September. The park sells annual passes. Just ask a ranger when they come to empty the trashbags where you can go to get them.
