Heard NW is best, but I've only sailed here on N. Biggest waves I've seen in Ontario.
N wind conditions: Launch towards the point so wind is not directly onshore. Waves are closely aligned with wind. Wave riding and jumping possible on both tacks but port-side is preferred for launching and starboard has better wave riding. Waves are bigger in the middle of the bay, I'm not great at judging height but I'd say at least 6ft. Wind was 25kts gusting 30kts.
Hazards: - Definitely an advanced sailing location in heavy conditions, a mast was broken in the waves while I was there (not mine thankfully) - Launch is a sandy beach but there are scattered rocks. Walk your gear to chest deep water to launch. If you're pushed into the bottom of the bay by the waves, DO NOT sail anywhere close to shore to get back to your car, just walk. I broke a fin :(
