Two windsurf shops are side by side on Sorobon beach for fast equipment rents and changes. www.jibecity.com and www.bonairewindsurfingplace.com are the email addresses.

The wind is onshore and sideshore with waist deep blue water in front of launch site, go north of the bay for deep water, bring lots of sunscreen. This is the best place to learn the next move, tacking, jibing, footstraps and harness with no fear. Instruction is also very good. It goes off March April May and the PWA goes there for a freestyle competition every year.

No kiting is allowed in Lac Bay.

There are a few areas that are popular to rent a place to stay. First if you like the city night life then you must stay in or close to Kralendijk, this is where the cruise ships dock, best restaurants, casino and music and dancing. Another popular spot is southwest of the Airport where many condos are available. If you are living here it is only 15 minutes to Sorobon Beach. Renting a scooter is the best way to travel if you don't have much stuff. Watch out for Donkeys on the road, they don't move. Lastly, there are a few condos by Lac Bay if you need to be really close to the windsurfing site. Bring or buy a mosquito net !!!!!!

On no wind days go scuba or snorkeling. Bonaire is a mecca for divers. Scootering around the island is the best approx. 1.5 hrs. There is no golf on Bonaire.

Bonaire is a laid back island unlike Aruba, no McDonalds, no high rise hotels etc. etc. The natives are really friendly and operate at a slower pace. The windsurfing shops don't open until 10:30 am if you are lucky. Bring lots of books and magazines and be ready to surf all day and relax and recover at nights. The Bonaire kids are amazing freestyle experts so watch the show and enjoy their wonderful addictive smiles.
