Sand in your crack at Lake Mac the saying goes. The #1 beach in the US. Even people from Florida are jealous. The sand is so fine it is like flour. Easy on the toes and equipment, but makes for some interesting driving.
Lake Mac is a Nebraska State Park. There are camping/access fees, but camping is allowed on the beach as are open fires and driving. There are developed campgrounds for lightfoots too.
Lake Mac is the site for the Toucan Open, an annual windsurf regatta held the weekend after Labor Day. The event is usually hosted by ABK and Larsen Ski and Sport out of Denver.
Wind here can be a challenge. Storm sailing mostly in the Summer, otherwise most high wind is in the Spring and Fall. Sailors tend to gather about midway down the lake at Sandy Beach. Most have a collection of toys for all wind speeds. Powerboats, catamarans, kites and boards.
Leave only your footprints please.
