When to go
Best time to visit, from May till August. This time of the year has consistent 15+ knot days, except when thunder storms move in. Typically 5 out 7 days are good to excellent. From Jan to May you will get 4 out of 7 good days.

Flat water.
Only one rental club in Las Terrenas. Great accomodations, bungalows and small apartment. Other activities, snorkleing and scuba diving. Excellent kitesurfing spot, plenty of space. Nearest International Airport, Puerto Plata (2:30hr).
Another kite surfing rental has come to town. The best place for flat water is El Portillo close to the local airport. Playa Coson has waves, but less of the thermal effect, so typically 2-3 knots less than Portillo. Punta Poppy is good at high tide. Low tide exposes the reef.
