Windsurfing near Ledbetter Beach

Ledbetter beach in Santa Barbara can get some wind but it is usually very light, at most in the 12-14 mph range. There is ample pay parking and a grassy rigging area but a long walk across the sand to the water. If there is wind then there probably isn't any surf and if there is both then the surfing area is protected by the cliff from getting any wind. On a big northwest swell the waves will break outside of the point and can be ridden all the way to the inside. There is a flat spot just inside the point and then the wave will jack up again. In summer months the ocean is like a lake and the wind is light so bring a big board and a big sail.
