Lido Beach is a beautiful spot in Sarasota, Florida. This site is geared to advanced Intermediate or stronger sailors due to potential severe shore break and large swell. Our season is December through May based on strong Cold Fronts sinking down into Florida at that time of year. Best set up usually 5.2 to 6.0 sail and 90 to 100 liter board but some days will be lighter. Close by is Bird Key and City Island sites that serve the Intercoastal water way in SW Florida. This spot is best in light to moderate wind - Formula, Wide Board sailing.
How to get there: From I 75 take the St Armonds Circle Exit and follow signs to St Armonds Circle on Lido Key: through downtown Sarasota. Once on the circle follow th sign for Lido Beach well marked on the circle. Drive to the beach and park a block before the Holiday Inn ( look for the windsurfing racks). Rigging is best on the opposite side of the road from the beach - grassy area in front of Condo fence.
Great group of sailors frequent this site in the Winter. Also Kiteboarders a little further down the road.
