Nice family summer holiday location. Its worthwhile to bring along the gear during summer. Had three windy (5.4m) days out of 7 in Dec 09. However, not a place to get too excited about for sailing in my opinion.
Open sea: - you can drive up to the bastion point carpark and launch from the boat launching beach. Don't know how it is to sail when the swell hits. Only had flat water when there.
Inlet: --- - can be quite frustrating to sail here. On an onshore day it looks perfect towards the sea but the water is to shallow in most places. The guys with a kite had perfect condition but with the wind surf board got stuck on sandbanks every couple of meters. - the water gets deep on the lake inside. But the problem there is sea weed. With a freestyle fin you couldn't sail it. It also gets gusty because its sheltered from the open ocean through an island. >> the flat water looked good but turned out to be a major frustration.
