Best in NW or NE, North is straight-on shorebreak, but all these have a nice steady wind and lots of big chop. Straight East or Southish is gusty. Water is shallow a good ways out and provides a decent learning area. Also has a good sized 'learner's pond. Not crowded except on hot weekends but well shared by kites and boards. Bring a weed fin in late summer and plan 2 routes to get there: I-280 bridge construction results in a variety of local ramp closures.
