McCrae Works great in a westerly and south-westerly. Avoid here in an eatserly as mountain blocks wind. care also for direct southerlies as off shore swirls wind and difficult to get back to base.
Northerlies in winter are great with good bay/wave saving but northerlies in summer rarely good as wind is weak and definately drops (even if in town strong).
Nice and deep. No reefs..... shallow spot at pole approx 200m off shore which makes for a good freestyle spot.
Not a good kitsurfing beach... better to head to Rosebud or Rye due to more launch area and less crowds.
Try it on the suggested wind directions...sure you will apreciate the clear waters compared to high up in bay and consistent winds.
