Mellsten is located in Espoo, one of the cities in the Helsinki metropolitan area.
Wind directions between 80 and 260 degrees work reasonably well. The most typical wind direction is 225-235 degrees (SW to slightly WSW) and allows sailing out of the bay out to sea. A wind direction of 125 degrees can on very rare occasions generate waves to the bay with a side-on wind, but most of the time there's either chop or flat water unless you sail 3-4 km out to sea.
Parking is either along the road (be careful to read the signs correctly or you may be fined) or at the daycare center parking lot (100 meters further to walk on a forest path).
Rigging can be done on grass and the launch is sandy. Watch out for rocks close to shore around spots where people launch. There's a shallow area on the NE shore of Miessaari (an island 2 km from the beach), but it is marked and all the other hazards are visible.

Warning: trees along the shoreline and gusty winds close to shore make this a difficult place for kitesurfing.
