Pay the boat launch fee ($4 - $5) and park in the "trailer only" spots. Rig on the grass or wood chips. Launch either to the south at the swim beach (not during summer) or at the rocky point, or walk you and your gear through the channel (waste deep). The wind can swirl a bit at the beach launch making it tricky getting in or out.
West or NW is best. If the wind is strong from the North (early or late in the season) some nice wind driven chop develops. East or South wind is not good because of the hills east and South of the launch.
Nagawicka has clean water, free of weeds for the most part.
