Narrabeen is a perfect location for beginners and intermediates, with flat and often shallow water, short runs, and all round safe conditions. In the right conditions, it can be great for advanced sailors too.

There are carparks at both launch sites, though you may have to pay to park. Both launches have plenty of grass to rig up on.

Wind Directions

NE & W.

Use the western launch in a NE sea breeze, the northern launch in a westerly. In a westerly Narrabeen Lake can be one of the only sailable spots north of Sydney Harbour, but can be very gusty i.e. 5 knots, then 30 knots then 5 knots. The lake is very protected from S/SE winds, it can be 30 knots on the coast and 5 knots here, with only a few huge gusts making it past the hills.
