Ned's point is a great sailing spot with easy parking and a beautiful grass rigging area. It sails best in a southwest wind but can also be epic on a good southeast with very large swell developing. The area is rocky so it is best to ask a regular or go at low tide the first time to see all the rocks. once you are thirty yards off shore there are no more rocks to worry about.
Located at the end of Ned's Point rd in Mattapoisett there are many good local places to eat after sailing or like most of us just picnic on the grass.
Watch the local signs for parking and where to get to the water and leave gear. This spot is popular with beach goers and they get upset if there is gear all over the small sand beach.
This is not a good kiting location due to the very rocky launch site and large boulder field directly downwind of the launch site. If you do want to kite here it is best for light wind days when there is less chance of getting dragged into the rocks.
