Ample parking with a grass area beside the parking lot for rigging. A drysuit with a sweater inside is necessary since the lake's annual average temperature is 4 degrees Celcius above freezing. August is best when the surface temp. reaches 15C (54 F). North wind is best otherwise the waves are horrendous. Bring your passport in case of gear problems, in which case it is a 200 km drift to Michigan, USA. You can see the sandbar on the satellite image which is different each year. The beach is sometimes sandy and most years stoney.
