Good sarf coast spot. Pay car park, loos. Shops closeby. Rigging on shingle. Whatout for the shoredump at high tide!

This site works best in South Easterlies. At high tide in Easterlies and Northeasterlies there is severe gear breaking shore dump onto a gravel beach and groins. At low tide there is a shallow sand beach which significantly increases the usable wind directions and accessability to novices. Even in good conditions the strong currents against the wind tend to generate chop. In the opposite wind with tide conditions a confidence in sailng to windward will allow sailors to avoid a long walk back. Not recommended for novices. Locals sail either from Pevensey Bay itself, the village on the cost and not to be confused with Old Pevensey where the castle is located. There has been no sailing from Old Pevensey for about six hundred years, its now a mile inshore. There are plenty of excellent B&B's and campsites in the area.

For those looking for an alternative quiter relatively dog poo free venue there is Cooden about a mile further toward Bexhill around the bay and reached via some narrow winding roads accross the flats. Drive carefully or enjoy the ditches. This works better when there is more West in the wind but lacks any facilities.

In the opposite direction towards the Sovereign Marina is the excellent Pevensey Bay sailng club next to the Bay View campsite. Sailng from the club is members only and only really works well in the all too rare South Easterly conditions. However, for those who join there is free camping, relatively secure free car parking, bar, galley, showers changing rooms etc.

On occasions when there is a disapointing lack of wind Sovereign Harbour & Eastbourne can provide much indoor entertaiment including cinema resteraunts and shopping or Beachy Head, Seven Sisters Park and Friston forest provide the best off road mountain biking in the South East.
