Prasonisi is located at the southern tip of Rhodes, with a sand spit running between the main island and a headland, offering two sailing spots. The wind blows from the west, giving flat water conditions on the windier downwind side, and onshore wave conditions on the upwind side. Wind strengths are often in the 4.0 - 5.0 range. Kitesurfing is also pretty popular here, especially on the downwind side - there is a good rescue service for windsurfers and kitesurfers which makes sailing on the downwind side quite safe.

Facilities

There is a hotel (the lighthouse hotel - with wireless internet), and camping and campervans are also allowed. There are a few centres on the beach including Pro Center C. Kirschner (http://www.prasonisi.com/) which has Neil Pryde and JP kit. Apart from windsurfing there are a some nice walks or runs out on the headland, or you could visit some nearby towns such as Lindos.

When to go

The local wind is a thermal effect so it's best in the summer months. It's worth noting that the wind here seems to be dominated by local effects so the windguru forecast doesn't bear much relation to the actual conditions.
