Windsurfing near Proctor Landing

NOTE: Proctor Landing is closed in 2009-2010 due to sewer construction. There are two other water access parks North of Proctor Landing. I have launched from one of them, Slater Park, and it works in much the same way as Proctor Landing.

This is a small but convenient launch at Mercer Island. The parking is for 10 cars, right next to the water. There is a small grassy rigging area, that would accommodate about 5 rigs. The launch beach is small pebbles and is very narrow - only about 20-30 feet wide, and there is a public dock.

This site works best with N wind. There can be about 50 yards of wind shadow, but past that you get clean wind, with the chop blocked by the bridge. S-SE also works well, with small wind chop, but no psycho chop as long as you stay upwind of launch and away from the bridge.

SW-W gets really bad chop bouncing off the shore and the bridge, so it is not recommended, as is E, since it would be offshore in a big wind shadow.
