Raymond Island is a great spot across all skill levels. A great weekeend destination, it is approx 4 hours from Melbourne, and reached via a ferry at Paynesville
You can just about sail this spot from any direction. In Summer, afternoon seabreezes up tp 20kts from the SW are the norm. At the point on Raymond Island you have the best of both worlds. The Lakes get a bit of short chop on the outside or you can launch from the inside of the point across towards Paynesville for flatter water. The only thing to watch out for is the boat traffic and more increasingly, jetskis.
There's limited parking and rigging area but you normally only be 1 of 2 or 3 guys out.
