The park is called Spring Park. It is located between Walnut and Spring Streets in downtown Green Cove Springs, off of US Highway 17. Launch in front of the Sheriff's office, to the south of the spring run. There is grass to rig on and the river is about 3.5 miles wide here. It is best on a SE seabreeze. When going out from the shore, stay in front of the park for at least the first 200 yards, and don't go deep into Green Cove, the cove to the south. The area has been developed for a long time, and there are unfortunately pilings that lay just underwater, which rotted to the waterline, and were not removed, near the shore. There is one set of pilings just to the right (south) of the edge of the park that go out maybe 100 yards. There is another set about a mile or so north of the park on the western shore. It is best to go out to the middle and sail out there where there is plenty of room and little boat traffic. Finally, keep a lookout for barges that go up and down the river on their way to Sanford. It is a great place to sail, especially for formula and bigger boards.
