Rowena (AKA Mayer State Park) has extensive paved parking with ample grassy rigging areas. Being an Oregon State day-use park, there is a $3 per day fee, or use your Oregon State Park pass.

Rowena works best on a NW or W wind. There are pit style restrooms, no running water. The walk to the launch is about 200 yards. Watch out for sharp rocks, goat's head (thorns) or glass on the paths to the water.

The barge lane is towards the WA side of the river, and the view is good in both directions to see them coming. The WA shore is rugged, steep and not a good place to land.

The launch itself is a wide area of gravel and rock, which can be very slippery in the latter part of the season. Best conditions are usually found somewhat downwind from the launch, where the wind steadies out. The swell builds as you move further east from the launch. You can easily sail down to Doug's Beach in a few reaches, and find your own piece of river somewhere in between.
