popular in south winds. free parking area, easy launch, directly across the street from sandbar state park. forgiving conditions with one significant but easy to avoid hazard to be aware of: a power line used to span the lake just south of the road. it has now been removed, poles and all, but the foundations for the poles still remain, and at certain lake levels they can sit about fin-depth below the water's surface. the power line was within a couple hundred yards or so south of the road, so if you find yourself in that general area then be careful and try to get up wind and out of danger. if you head a little upwind from the launch you should be easily out of harms way.
