Sampson has great sailing when the wind is North. Big swell. A bit of a drive but worth it. From the Visitors Center follow roads to a gravel parking lot just north of the marina (not accessable from the marina). Rig in the lot and walk down the path to swim beach and water. Be careful not to get swept to far downwind, tough shoreline and breakwall for a while.....it's a long lake (almost as long as Lake Ontario is wide).
