Great summer windsurfing. The delta breeze blows through here. Conditions vary but it tends to blow a little stronger in the morning and late afternoon with a lull at noon. There is a windsurfing shop (delta windsurf company) that is located along the road to get here.
It is very important to be aware of the direction of the tides! When the tide is flooding (ie. water coming in from the SF Bay) then the current is going with the wind. This means rig bigger and the water will be flatter. When the current is ebbing, you get the opposite effect.
The parking lot fills up fast in the summer so get there early. Nice grassy area for rigging and a sandy beach to launch from. Kiters launch from several beaches further into the park.
There is a $5 day use fee for park access or you can buy a yearly park pass from the park host, located a little further into the park. It had raised to $50 per year in 2008 and is valid for one year from date of purchase.
