CSB South Shore fires from east to west and is best when there is a 10' wave at bouy 39: http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=42039 as the wave has to wrap in around the Cape. Otherwise it can be quite clean on a southeast day with some Gulf swell. No hazards.
Conditions can be epic given the right wind+swell setup with relatively long clean DTL waves. SS can go off any time of year but is usually best in the winter and spring. Wind can stay up in the late afternoon. No hazards save red tide in the late summer. Showers and restrooms a couple miles to the west in the public park.
