South West Rocks is best in the summer, N - NE winds and sail on Trial Bay from the gaol side of the bay. If your gybes are not good and you don't like the swell in the bay the river is a good alternative. There is a good spot to launch from near the boat ramp, a grassed area and small sandy beach. Best in a S/SW or N/NE, you can get 800m runs across the river to a sandy beach on the other side. Note: The river and Trial Bay are safest in high tide as there are sand bars to lookout for.
