St Kilda offers both flat water (protected by the St Kilda pier) and some small waves if you travel outside the protection of the breakwater.
There are two distinct areas:
- Advanced zone is inside the pier
- Beginners zone is down out front of West Beach (which is one of Melbourne’s biggest beaches).
Instruction occurs in the beginners area and on the beach at West Beach. It is also not a popular swimming beach.
