The Steinhuder Meer is a lake north-west of Hannover. Flat water with sandy ground, fine for beginners. The only official spot to launch is at Mardorf at the north coast. Beginner area and Kite area (max. waist deep) is marked with red tons. Size of the lake is about 5x8 km. Water depth is max. 2m. Be careful: sandbanks at the launching site! Best wind is any direction except north. Local racing scene with some top german racers. Closed for water-sport from 1.11. - 31.3. Best conditions in spring and autumn.
