Best in NE. ESE brings a rough shore break, but SE to South is also good. In many wind directions there are nice rollers with the wind building out in Brest Bay. Decent shore waves do occur on parts of the beach, and surfers show up during a steady Easterly. The place is often horrendously crowded on hot weekends, with frequent berserk jetskis and nearshore trollers. You may want to launch from the north corner near the Army Corp breakwall in order to not have to punch through the beach crowd. Also watch out for the submerged rock pile just south of the beach.
