Terry Park is another alternative to Windsurf Bay Park. While it can be really good on a southerly wind day, most people don't launch from Terry unless it's blowing from the North or West.
There's lots of rigging room, but the parking is limited. If you have no trailer, the small lot on the north side of Terry Rd works pretty good. But if you're part of the trailer trash crowd, you'll need to park by the boat ramp.
There's a sandy beach launch about 100 yards north of the small parking lot (near the point). It's a pretty good place to land. You can also launch off of the boat ramp, though it can be a bit rough water wise and a bit slick traction wise. There's lots of concrete rip-rap on either side of the ramp, so don't try to launch there.
Patrolled by Heath Police, definitely do not get caught with alcohol. They have less of a sense of humor than the Dallas County Sheriff.
The long distance sailors regular travel from Windsurf Bay to Terry depending on the wind direction. It's a pretty good place to land if you need to make a rig adjustment.
Not much crime or night time problems. But do lock your doors.
