Windsurfing near Tomales Bay-Grassy Point

Ever sail the Gorge? Well this is the cold water version. When wind comes funneling off the ocean and the the tide is going out - this place is insane. Big swells and lots of wind. Springtime is best on strong northwest. Parking is limited. The dairy across the road is the first certified organic dairy in the western U.S. The launch is real small - no room for kiters.

Also, there's poison oak on the paths going down to Grassy Point, as well as ticks. So keep your eyes open and check for little hitch-hikers before you drive home. Bring your smallest gear and your A-game - the wind will build throughout the day until many are on 3 to 3.5 meter sails. Ebb is best but the flood isn't as strong as say Crissy or Sherman Island. Low tide is not a problem. Weeds get annoying after June but they're not impossible to deal with.
