Waddell Beach is a world famous locale for windsurfing and kiteboarding. From late March through end of October you can always count on afternoon steady winds. Water temps are cold, you need a full wetsuit. Waves vary from flat to double overhead 10 footers, depending on offshore weather conditions. There are some lulls when the fog rolls in, which can go for days at a time. Some extreme winds can be found here in winter, with 20 knots plus common during storms.
This site was notable for wind surfers for many years, but has moved to mostly kitesurfing.
