Outlet Windsurfing Spot, Wanaka, New Zealand
One of the best spots in Wanaka for windsurfing in North West frontal winds. Wind can exceed 40 knots at time and waves can be up to 4 to 6 feet. Beach access is limited to one spot, which has been cleared of rocks. Nice rigging area with 2wd drive access down past rich persons houses who tried to stop access earlier this year. This backfired and Council upgraded the access road for the local windsurfers and for other users to enjoy. Not suited for kite surfing unless really experienced due to large rocks near launching spot and several trees close to beach.
