Wood Neck is rocky right in front of the parking lot, and the Cape Codder creates a bit of a wind shadow especially when there is a lot of S in the wind, but the water is usually less choppy than at Chappy. During the off season, it's OK to sail in front of the parking lot, but in the Summer, please walk North across the channel to sandier beaches, and do not sail within the swimming buoys. This is especially important for kiters.
Good wind from SW to NW, with less chop than Chappaquoit/West Falmouth-North America. Wood Neck is very family friendly, and the marsh provides a good area for kids to play.
A resident parking sticker is required for daytime parking during the Summer.
Here's a view from Hamlin point of the rocky side of the bay at low tide in no winds.
