Redbarn end of the strand in Youghal. Parking by the side of the hotel with a small grass section for rigging in front of the mobile homes.
Works from SW (cross shore), through SE (dead onshore) to NE when it's port tack cross shore.
Water is generally flat to slightly bumpy in SW and at all states of tide, sometimes there's a bit of swell. SW is cross shore with a few degrees of off in it, so if you're worried about getting back to the beach, best to sail at low tide when it's waist deep for about 200m from the water's edge...if you have a big fin prepare for a long walk. The water is deeper east of the hotel and shallower to the west.
A strong SE brings lots of swell/waves into Youghal bay. At Redbarn at low tide the waves break gently fairly far out and it makes for great sailing. At high tide it's all swell and a bit of a shore dump.
